At Clavier Music and Art, we believe music education should be more than just weekly lessons, exams, and practice routines. Sometimes, the most meaningful learning happens through curiosity, storytelling, and simply falling in love with the music itself.

This year, we are excited to bring back one of our favourite traditions – our annual Composer of the Year event! For 2026, we have chosen the wonderful Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as our featured composer.

Many students already recognise Tchaikovsky through beloved works such as Swan LakeThe Nutcracker, and Sleeping Beauty, but over the next few weeks we hope they will also discover more about the person behind the music – his life story, inspirations, and the beautiful melodies he left behind.

To celebrate, we have prepared a collection of fun activities and resources for our students, including:

  • A specially designed Tchaikovsky booklet
~ filled with a simplified retelling of his life story, alongside puzzles, word searches, and musical activities
  • Colouring and trivia challenge sheets
~ students can complete these activities and exchange them for a handmade Tchaikovsky-theme keychain
  • Limited edition Tchaikovsky keychains
~ a small keepsake to remember this year’s event!

We have also prepared a library of Tchaikovsky pieces across different difficulty levels for our teachers to introduce during lessons where suitable.

Most importantly, we hope this event encourages students to see music not just as notes on a page, but as stories, emotions, history, imagination, and creativity all woven together.

We are so excited to share this little project with our students and families, and we hope it brings a bit of extra joy and inspiration into lessons over the coming weeks!
